Flexible / Ad-Hoc Support Engagement
We are seeking an experienced IFS Support & Legacy Environment Consultant to provide ongoing administration, user support, and technical guidance for a legacy IFS environment.
This is a lightweight support-focused role rather than a development position, ideal for a consultant with strong IFS administration and functional support experience who can provide practical assistance on an ad-hoc basis while helping shape a long-term strategy for maintaining historical ERP data access.
The engagement will initially focus on day-to-day system support, user administration, and issue resolution, with the potential to advise on and deliver an archival or "mothball" strategy for the legacy IFS platform.
Manage user accounts, roles, permissions, and access requests.
Provide first and second-line support for IFS users.
Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day application issues.
Support business users with system queries and process-related questions.
Monitor system usage and assist with general ERP administration activities.
Perform basic SQL queries to extract financial balances, operational data, and historical information.
Support ad-hoc reporting requirements.
Assist stakeholders with data retrieval and validation activities.
Assess options for retaining access to historical ERP data.
Advise on legacy system archival and retention approaches.
Support data extraction, cleansing, and preservation initiatives.
Evaluate solutions such as:
Data extraction and historical reporting repositories.
Archived reference environments.
Virtual machine retention strategies.
Alternative approaches that minimise reliance on unsupported infrastructure.
Resolve ad-hoc issues as they arise.
Provide practical recommendations for maintaining system stability.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external service providers where required.
Hands-on experience supporting IFS Applications
Strong understanding of user administration, security roles, and permissions.
Experience providing first and second-line ERP support.
Working knowledge of SQL for data extraction and reporting.
Ability to troubleshoot functional and technical issues independently.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Previous experience with legacy IFS environments.
Knowledge of ERP archival, decommissioning, or system retirement projects.
Experience working with virtualised legacy infrastructure.
Understanding of older Microsoft server environments.
IFS technical or development experience (beneficial but not required).
Fully remote engagement.
Expected commitment of approximately 2–3 days per week or on an ad-hoc basis depending on demand.
Occasional onsite visits may be required.
Contractors will submit approved timesheets through the organisation's billing system.
The current environment includes legacy technologies, including older operating systems and infrastructure components. A key objective will be identifying a sustainable and cost-effective approach to retaining historical access to ERP data without the ongoing burden of maintaining unsupported legacy platforms.
